This is a photograph of a float honoring Kinsley S. Bingham, of Brighton, Michigan.  Kinsley S. Bingham was our first governor from the county of Livingston, Michigan.

Bingham was elected Governor of Michigan in 1855 and 1857, then was elected United States Senator from Michigan in 1859.  He died in 1861.

The photo shows the "Hotel Hayes" in the background which is located in Jackson, Michigan. The Hayes Hotel building is still standing although not a hotel. If you look at a Google image of the hotel, you can tell based on the unique point at the top center and brick work. Also Jackson was where the historic "Meeting Under the Oaks" occurred on July 6, 1854 and is a Michigan Historic Site complete with a Michigan historical marker number S0015. It appears to be a 4th of July parade, circa 1954.
