Robert E. Parker was born in Howell, Michigan. He is a graduate of Howell High School and practiced law in Howell, Michigan since 1973.
Mr. Parker served on the City of Howell Planning Commission, Howell City Council, and as City of Howell Mayor. For many years, the Parker family resided in their home at 915 North Michigan Avenue (McPherson Mansion) while he was practicing law in Howell. The Parker Ancestors migrated from Scotland and settled in Howell with the McPherson and Riddle families.
R. Bruce McPherson was a well known Howell businessman, the president of McPherson Bank, and an insurance broker. He had the McPherson Mansion on Michigan Avenue built in 1915. McPherson was the son of William McPherson Jr. and Jennie M. Ranney.

Robert and Frederick were the children of of Eva Love Hickey McPherson and Robert Bruce McPherson. Robert was born July 27, 1903, and would be about 15 years old in the photo. Frederick was born on August 20th, 1911, and would have been around 6 years old.
A photo of Robert Akin, who founded Akin-Akin Insurance in May of 1938. His son Edward inherited the company from him, becoming president after his father in 1973.
Robert was also the president of Chemung Hills Country Club and a director of the Chamber of Commerce board around the time the photo was taken. He was married to Ernestine Hughes.
