    R. Bruce McPherson was a well known Howell businessman, the president of McPherson Bank, and an insurance broker. He had the McPherson Mansion on Michigan Avenue built in 1915. McPherson was the son of William McPherson Jr. and Jennie M. Ranney.

    This is a portrait of Amos Adams, Howell, Livingston, Michigan.  Amos was a son of Samuel Adams, a Revolutionary War soldier.   Amos was born November 25, 1783 at Dublin, New Hampshire.  He died May 14, 1855 at Howell, Livingston, Michigan, and is buried in Lakeview Cemetery, Howell.  He was a surveyor and hotel keeper according to the label on his portrait.

    Amos was married to Elizabeth "Betsy" Wright.

    Amos Adams' children were Adeline, Eveline, Abigail, John Quincy, Amos Stone, and Angeline.

    This is a portrait of Amos Stone Adams, son of Amos and Elizabeth (Wright) Adams.  Amos Stone Adams was born June 5, 1821, and died approximately May 1863.   He was the son of Amos Adams, who came to Howell, Michigan in 1835 from Geneseo, New York.

    Amos Stone Adams married Melissa M. Townsend.
