    This photograph is of the 1914 Homecoming, Howell, Michigan.  The events were held on the Livingston County Court House Lawn.  This view looks north at the intersection of State Street and East Grand River Avenue, with the Court House on the right side.

    This is a photograph taken during the launching of a hot air balloon, Howell, Michigan, during the 1915 4th of July celebration.

    The view is looking west from West Grand River Avenue; Grand River is unpaved.  The intersection of Walnut Street and Grand River is in view, and it includes the Hardware on the southwest corner, then further west is the Methodist Church building that was moved to that block, the spectators, the balloon, and in the distance the First Presbyterian Church. 

    On the north side of Grand River Avenue, the building with the sloped roof was identified by Duane Zemper as a photographer's studio, either Roy Lyndon or Harland Ludwig.

    The newspaper printed a summary of the event, including the detail that the balloon came down on the jail, and was so damaged that it could not be repaired for the scheduled 5pm ascension.

    This is a photograph of what appears to be a house moving, East Clinton Street, Howell, Michigan.  The view is looking South and remarks they were clearing the area for a parking lot.

    The date of the photograph and address are unknown.

    Fire Chief Karl Welcker and Theodore Briggs climbing a ladder during a fire in the Howell Bowling Alley. The fire caused extensive damage to the top floor of the building. A crowd has gathered to observe.

    These photographs were taken of the October 21st, 1947 fire at the Howell Bowling Alleys, Howell, Michigan.  The names of the persons in the pictures are unknown.

    The owner of the "Howell Bowling Alleys" was Charles Domine.  Several months later, construction was started on a new bowling alley on East Grand River Avenue near Fair Street.  The building was the property of Fred Cronenwett, and was adjacent to the Ude Sweet Shoppe at 213 East Grand River Avenue, Howell, Michigan.

    Howell Carnegie District Library Bookworm, Mr. McLong, in Melonfest Parade, Howell, Michigan - 1990.  Kids participating in summer reading were able to be a part of Mr. McLong marching in Melonfest parade. Looking east on Grand River Avenue in front of Livingston County Courthouse, Michigan.

    This group of photographs were taken during the dedication ceremony and reception for the new addition at the Howell Carnegie District Library, on April 14th, 1991.

    Presiding over the ceremonies were Board Chairman George Landon and Library Director, Kathleen Zaenger.

    These pictures were taken of the ceremonial planting of the Washington Elm tree by the Philip Livingston Chapter of the D.A.R. in the square of the Howell Carnegie Library, Howell, Michigan. The tree and the ceremony was in honor of the Bicentennial of the birth of George Washington.   The photographs were taken by Ed Beach.

    With a tree, the D.A.R. placed a marker with the date and the insigna of the local chapter.  Mrs. R. M.Tubbs was the regent of the Howell chapter.  Dr. Homer Mitchell Noble, pastor First Presbyterian Church of Howell, and Rev. George Curts of the Howell Methodist Episcopal church spoke at the event, according to an article in the Livingston Republican, dated May 4, 1932.

    These photographs were taken at the event of the unveiling of the Howell Carnegie Library's Model Addition.  It was held at the library, July 7, 1988.  Its theme was "Bridging Yesterday to Tomorrow".

    This is a photograph likely taken from the Presbyterian Church, of Flag Day at the Howell Carnegie Library, 314 West Grand River Avenue, Howell, Michigan.

    As reported by David D. Finney Jr., in his "Images of America: Howell" book, 2013, Flag Day was celebrated  at the Howell Carnegie Library Square.  A parade from the Livingston County Courthouse was led by Boy Scouts, Camp Fire Girls, and third graders.  The teachers and school children were waving flags.   On the lawn, they joined local citizens and sang patriotic songs.
